Effects of developmental environment on animal personality in a tropical skink

چکیده

Abstract Developmental environments play a significant role in shaping animal phenotype, including behavior. Within species, individuals often differ behavior consistent and repeatable way (i.e., demonstrate personality). This consistency can be affected by differences conditions experienced early life. It is, however, unclear whether effects of developmental on personality are driven changes within- or between-individual variation. To investigate this, we measured activity, exploration, sociability, boldness adult male southern rainforest sunskinks, Lampropholis similis , incubated at either 23 °C 26 °C, compared behavioral phenotypes between these incubation treatments. We also the groups to cohort wild-caught skinks determine rearing captivity lizards. Skinks that had been higher temperature were more explorative demonstrated larger suite traits lizards lower caught wild. These among environment primarily within-individual variation, which tended high treatment. found no evidence for syndrome captive- wild-reared skinks. Our results suggest potential greater plasticity temperature, may enable them cope with environmental change, such as climate warming, short term. Overall, show complex pivotal personality. Significance statement Experiences during development expected influence how animals develop, their tested sunskinks comparing different temperatures well those reared wild captive environments. exploratory. Furthermore, both captivity/wild-rearing pronounced behavior—in directions traits—demonstrating have strong Such likely flow-on animal’s fitness biotic interactions.

the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
